On the 13th of November 2017, Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi has moderated the panel ”Financing for Development: Beyond Business as Usual” at the 11th Debt Management Conference organized by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The Debt Management Conference has been convened in the context of the Financing for Development Agenda adopted by the UN member states at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa in 2015. The Financing for Development Agenda is based on mobilizing public and private, national and international resources for development. The Debt Management Conference has gathered participants from the academia and civil society sector, national experts, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations. The topics discussed and debated during the conference included: financing for development, debt sustainability, responsible and inclusive financing, mitigating debt management operational risks.

During the panel moderated by Ambassador Ulianovschi, experts from the academia, Prof. Jan Kregel (Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, US) and Prof. Nelson Barbosa (São Paulo School of Economics, Brazil) have presented an analysis of the UN process of following up on the UN Financing for Development Agenda, taking a fresh look at the main challenges and opportunities a multilateral agenda for development finance faces at present.
