Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi elected Vice-President of the WIPO General Assembly

Today, 2nd of October 2017, the 57th Series of Meetings of the WIPO Assemblies was opened and will last until the 11th of October 2017. WIPO Assemblies represent the main decision-making body of the organization, which gathers Delegations from 191 WIPO Member States and set the strategic directions of the organization for the next year.

During the first day of the meetings, Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova, was elected Vice-President of the WIPO General Assembly. In this position, Ambassador Ulianovschi will have an important role in facilitating discussions with the view of eliminating existing divergences and reaching consensus on the topics included in the agenda.

At the same meeting, Mrs. Lilia Bolocan, Director General of the State Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova, was elected Vice-President of the General Assembly of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works – Berne Union.

During the current meeting, multiple issues of importance for the WIPO will be examined, such as matters concerning the convening of a diplomatic conference for the adoption of the Treaty on the Protection of the Rights of Broadcasting Organizations and the Agreement on the Protection of Industrial Designs, adoption of the biennial budget 2018-2019, opening of new WIPO external offices, mandate of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC), etc.
