Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi has presented at WIPO the priorities of the Republic of Moldova in agricultural innovation promotion

Today, 21 September 2017, Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office at Geneva, has participated at the Conference “Intellectual Property and Innovation in the Agriculture and Food”, organized at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The event was opened by Mr. Carlos Furche, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile and Mr. Mario Matus, Deputy Director General of the WIPO.

In his intervention, Ambassador Ulianovschi has presented Moldova’s experience in the agricultural sector from the perspective of innovations and intellectual property. In his presentation, he has mentioned the fact that according to the Global Innovation Index 2017, Republic of Moldova continues to occupy a top place among lower-middle-income countries, after having occupied the 1st place in this group in 2015 and 2016.

The public has been informed about recent innovations made by Moldovan scientists in the agricultural sector, such as discovery of new types of grapes and development of digital maps to determine the best types of soils. Ambassador Ulianovschi has also presented the achievements in the sector of electronic governance with respect to innovation processes.

The event has gathered representatives of diplomatic missions in Geneva, experts from international organizations, as well as academia representatives.
