Cooperation priorities between UNECE and OSCE, presented by Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi in Prague

Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi, in his capacity as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Chairman of the Steering Committee on Trade Capacity and Standards of the UNECE, has participated at the 25th Economic and Environmental Forum of the OSCE, which took place during 6-8 September 2017 in Prague, Czechia.

In his capacity as Chairman of the UNECE Steering Committee, Ambassador Ulianovschi has presented the cooperation priorities between the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the OSCE in the area of economic, trade and environmental development of the OSCE Member States.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office at Geneva has launched the idea of involving UNECE experts in the implementation of comprehensive regional studies on reducing trade barriers in the OSCE region.

In this context, Ambassador Ulianovschi has presented the example of the UNECE study carried out in the Republic of Moldova with the financial support of the Swiss Government, which will serve as a basis for the elimination of trade and technical barriers in the process of trade facilitation and will simplify the activity of local economic agents.

High-level international dignitaries present at the event, among which the UNECE Executive Secretary Olga Algayerova, ECOSOC President Marie Chatardova, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Czechia, Lubomir Zaoralek, Minister for Finance of Austria, the OSCE 2017 Chair, Hans Schelling, the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Jeffrey Sachs, as well as Ambassadors of the OSCE Member States have expressed their unanimous support for strengthening the economic, trade and environmental capacities in the Eurasian region by launching joint projects.
