The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office in Geneva has actively participated in the 35th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) that has taken place in Geneva from the 6th to 23rd of June, 2017.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova, led by H. E. Ambassador Tudor Ulianovschi, delivered four statements during the annual discussion on the human rights of women and annual thematic discussion on technical cooperation and capacity building. Ambassador Ulianovschi reiterated the Government’s priorities in promoting and protecting human rights and underlined the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the implementation of human rights policies. Moreover, the efforts made by the Republic of Moldova in order to respect its international commitments were acknowledged by the High Commissioner for Human Rights in his opening statement, our country being one of the only 33 states which have fulfilled their reporting obligations to the treaty bodies in the area of human rights.

At the same time, the Republic of Moldova was a member of the core group on the resolution “Youth and Human Rights”, which the Council adopted by consensus. Furthermore, the Mission participated in the negotiations on more than 30 resolutions, co-authoring 12 of them and aligned itself to five statements made by EU, a statement made by a group of countries on the elimination of violence against women and to the joint statement by GUAM, presented for the first time at HRC.
